Compassion Focused Group Therapy
I offer group therapy sessions using Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) which take place online via zoom. My 12 session compassion focused therapy group is based on the work of CFT specialist and trauma therapist, Professor Deborah Lee. The group is tailored for individuals who have experienced difficult events or have not received the love, protection or guidance they needed as a child.
The group will teach you about the effects of our childhood experiences on the brain and the way in which we learn to cope with our feelings. We also learn how to manage difficult feelings with powerful compassion focused exercises. However, the most important and healing part of the group, is sharing the experience with the other group members.
The final phase of the group offers time to bring personal struggles so the group can use its collective wisdom and the skills we have learnt to offer support to each other and experience giving and receiving compassion. You will find out that compassion is a powerful antidote to isolation, feelings of anxiety, embarrassment and shame.
The group is closed, meaning that everyone in the group starts at the same time and ends at the same time. You will need to make a commitment to attending all 16 sessions as that will give you and the other group members the best experience.
Attending a group is often a worrying experience at first, as you won’t know what to expect. The worry will soon pass though and I will do all I can to help every group member feel safe and comfortable enough to attend and get the most from the group experience.
Groups have up to six members and are usually mixed gender. Group sessions are 90 minutes long with a short break in the middle. They run on a weekly basis on the same day at the same time.
Group sessions are £40 per session.
